Weeks of rain, waterlogged roads and mud can leave their mark on your car. A quick check after the monsoon helps catch small problems early.
The checklist
- Brakes: water and grit can wear pads faster. Listen for squeaks and check that braking feels firm.
- Wipers: blades harden and streak after heavy use. Replace them if they leave lines on the glass.
- Tyres: check the tread depth and pressure, and look for cuts from potholes.
- Underbody: wash off mud and look for early rust, especially near the wheel arches.
- Electricals: test all lights and the horn. Damp can cause loose or corroded connections.
- AC and cabin filter: a musty smell often means the cabin filter needs cleaning or replacing.
- Door seals and drains: clear leaves and dirt so water doesn't collect inside the doors.
